Tirosint\u00ae contains the synthetic thyroid hormone levothyroxine sodium (also known as T4). Tirosint\u00ae is a soft capsule that contains levothyroxine dissolved in pure water. To produce the soft capsule, the auxiliary materials glycerol and gelatin are used.<\/p>\n
Levothyroxine is necessary to supplement a thyroid hormone deficiency in case of hypothyroidism. Blood tests can be used to diagnose hypothyroidism. They can similarly be used to measure whether the levothyroxine supplementation is succeeding in restoring the thyroid values to a normal level.<\/p>\n
